Why are we unable to add plugins to our websites?

Security, maintenance, performance, and stability.

Our sites share a single platform, so every plugin installed is actually shared by every site we host.

If every client had two or three plugins, then we would have thousands of active third-party plugins that would likely open up security holes, conflict with our platform, cause errors, and negatively impact performance. Every bug, every vulnerability, every resource hog would be shared.

Because we’re a managed service—clients don’t maintain their own separate sites—we would have to security audit, monitor, and maintain every single plugin and it would be too much to deal with at scale.

We want to ensure that no single client can impact the security and performance of any other clients’ websites.
